Shawn Cole Camu, 38, of Alamogordo, stole the firearms Jan. 9 from a federal firearms licensee in El Paso, according to court documents. He took them to his home, where he intended to sell them for drug money, prosecutors said. Camu has seven prior felony convictions in Colorado and New Mexico, including convictions for residential burglary, armed burglary, robbery and assault, court documents show. He was arrested Jan. 10 and indicted in February on charges of stealing a firearm from a federal firearms licensee, possessing a firearm as a prohibited person and transporting a stolen firearm. Camu pleaded guilty to all three charges Aug. 11.
